Travel with Kate Payne-Brown

Poppin' bottles is Kate Payne-Brown’s forté. An expert in everything sparkling, Kate is the winemaker at award-winning Stoller Family Estate in Oregon’s Dundee Hills. Stoller is the first winery in the world to receive LEED Gold certification for sustainability and has been voted Oregon’s Most Admired Winery four years running. We love Kate for her energy and endless curiosity—and her mastery of creating a perfectly textured glass of wine, with a passion that runs as deep as the rooted vines of beautiful Burgundy.

Breaking Boundaries

Kate is a successful female winemaker in a male-dominated and often conservative. As a woman, and as a mom to two young boys, Kate’s a strong and pioneering voice for supporting women working in all aspects of the wine world.

Master Storyteller

Kate greets a bottle of Stoller 2014 Chardonnay like an old friend. She considers herself a wine storyteller whose job is to bring the essence and narrative of a vineyard from the vine to your lips.

A Vision

Kate originally studied to be... an optometrist. But when she met a man on a motorbike trip who told her about a grape consultant who traveled the world, collaborating with wineries, she suddenly saw a different future.
