Award-Winning Chef-Founder of Detroit’s Barda and Puma, Javier Bardauil
Through your glass of smoky malbec, the snow-capped Andes glint on the horizon. Just twenty-four hours ago, you were captivated by the passionate rhythms of tango, the haunting melodies of the bandoneon echoing in the heart of Buenos Aires. Tomorrow, in the company of a seasoned gaucho, you’ll ascend the rugged foothills on horseback as the vineyards fade from the horizon. But in this moment, you’re spellbound by the gentle crackle and sizzle of the open flame grill behind you. It’s a chance to reflect, an opportunity to savor all that has unfolded and to eagerly await the journeys yet to come.

3 Reasons to Travel with Javier Bardauil
Chef Javier Bardauil, a 2022 James Beard Award “Best New Restaurant” finalist, is renowned for bringing authentic South American flavors to Detroit with his first restaurant BARDA. Having trained at the Argentine Gastronomy Institute and Lenôtre School in Paris, Bardauil honed his craft working under Argentina’s culinary icons, Francis Mallmann and Pablo Massey. As co-anchor of the Latin-American TV show Cena y Cine, he shared his passion for flame-kissed cookery. Bardauil’s second restaurant, Puma, opened in 2024, channels the casual, lively spirit of Buenos Aires’ beloved bar-restaurants. We can’t wait for him to join us in November to reveal the secrets of Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Uco Valley with all the love and passion of a native-born son.

Dinner & A Show
Chef Javier is a natural entertainer and each meal is a performance. At BARDA, he creates an immersive dining experience where the kitchen feels like a stage and the team, carefully chosen through “castings,” brings his vision to life. His connection to Argentina’s culinary traditions is evident in every dish, creating a sense of theater and storytelling on every plate.
It’s Fire
Hospitality is more than serving food—it’s creating an atmosphere where people feel connected and inspired. Cooking over an open flame is a multisensory art, blending sight, smell, and taste. Each dish Chef Javier creates reflects the passion and instinct of Argentina’s flame-cooking traditions, turning every meal into an unforgettable memory.
School of Javier
Chef Javier views his restaurants as embassies of Argentinian culture. Cooking over an open flame is an instinctive, artful process—there are no recipes, only the moment. By sharing the soulful, dynamic traditions of his homeland, Bardauil invites guests to experience Argentina’s bold flavors and the mastery behind its fire-driven cuisine.
Amazing food—not to mention the wine! It was wonderful.
I loved the efficiency, service, quality and personal touch... an amazing time!
I'd never been on a tour or trip like this—Modern Adventure is AMAZING.
Where We Sleep

The best of Argentine hospitality comes with sleek, art-filled boutique hotels surrounded by Andean peaks, and palatial old world buildings in Buenos Aires’ noblest barrios.
The Four Seasons
Buenos AiresIt's a Buenos Aires old-world institution, built in 1932 as a luxury destination for European travelers. And truly, it is a palace. Inside it's the epitome of Belle Époque decorated in grand Louis XV and XVI styles, with marble floors, crystal chandeliers, gilded paneled walls, captivating art that create a sublime base camp in the heart of Buenos Aires.

Entre Cielos
MendozaYou’ll love setting up in the vineyards at this dreamy 16-room luxury hotel just outside Mendoza. From your room's art-filled, luxurious interiors, gaze out the wide windows or walk onto your private deck facing the manicured gardens and Andean ranges. Reward your mind and body with a Turkish-style bath, a mile-long loop through the vineyards and olive trees, or a refreshing dip in the pool.

Alpasión Lodge
MendozaNestled among the vines at the foot of the Andes, the Alpasión Lodge offers chic high-desert accommodations and intimate access to the Uco Valley’s Altamira subregion. Watch the sun sink into the ridgeline from the terrace garden, pool or spa, a glass of local “mountain wine” in hand. It’s an ideal place to understand the climate, culture and landscape that make this region — and its wines — so unique.

Do I need Travel Insurance?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement for your trip costs; if your trip plans change for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to get medical help, emergency transport, and for theft, loss or damage of items while traveling. For best coverage, always insure the full trip cost within two weeks of your initial trip deposit and note that most ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ policies must be purchased on the date of your initial deposit.
