3x James Beard award-winning wine writer, Alice Feiring
Tonight, deep in the Georgian Caucasus, you’re feasting in the home of a local family: there’s homegrown lamb tinged with fenugreek and chile, and garlic with handmade cheeses, alongside finely charred slabs of khachapuri. You sip wine fermented on this very parcel, a happy fatigue reminding you of the morning’s hike to a medieval monastery, perched amid the snow-capped peaks that bridge Europe, Asia, Russia and the Middle East. Tomorrow, you’ll return to the galleries and coffeehouses of the nation’s cobblestoned capital. This is true Georgia: urban and rural, royal but rustic. A captivating treat for the senses and a wanderer’s dream come true.

3 Reasons to Travel with Alice Feiring
The Financial Times once declared Alice Feiring the “Queen of Natural Wine.” We like to think of her as a revolutionary: through her precocious advocacy of wines crafted with intensive personal care instead of chemical inputs, she single-handedly changed the way people talk about wine. She’s also a delightful, funny human who revels in feasting, music and spirited debate. Next June, she’ll guide us to a deeper understanding of the world’s most ancient winemaking region.

For the Love of Wine
When Alice first landed in Georgia in 2011, she fell instantly under its spell. She felt a rare magic in the local landscape and the people — in their fascinating, delicious wines. Her 2019 book, For the Love of Wine chronicles her journey through this nation’s 8,000-year winemaking history.
Go Ask Alice
For the past 20 years, Alice has led the conversation on natural wine. She studies her subject as an anthropologist might, querying flavor and culture, soil and season, vintner personalities and heritages, to understand each wine as a world unto itself. She's published six books on the subject—her most recent, To Fall in Love, Drink This—and writes the Substack, The Feiring Line.
Vintage Character
At once opinionated and reflective, Alice views wine as a way of life — a beverage, yes, but also a means to understand food, land, weather, culture, craft, history and individual personalities — all fermented in a wonderfully drinkable package. Could there be any more delicious way to live?
The planning and day-to-day operations of this trip were excellent! I felt very well cared for.
The trip was curated in a way that provided unique experiences we wouldn't have had if we traveled solo.
The food was excellent. I’m going to have to work hard to get back to my weight pre-Georgia!
Where We Sleep

Soviet vintage and contemporary design, industrial flair blend together seamlessly: Nothing captures the playful, innovative spirit of today’s Georgia better than our boutique accommodations*
*On rare occasions, our hotels will change.
Rooms Tbilisi
TbilisiMore than a just a hotel, this erstwhile Soviet publishing house is the kind of atrium-like crossroads where everyone turns up sooner or later, from black-clad artists just back from Berlin to local politicians and homegrown hipsters. On weekends you’ll find them all here, drinking cocktails in the library and enjoying breakfast at the lavish buffet, piled high with enough jewel-like fruits, jams and pastries to inspire a Dutch Master.

Tsinandali Estate
TsinandaliLocated on the grounds of the former palace home of Prince Chavchavadze, the Georgian Romanticist and winemaker, this breathtaking estate sits in the very heart of the Kakheti wine region. It's nestled among the vines in the heart of Tsinandali's historic center, meticulously designed with earthy shades and pine accents to blend seamlessly with the pastoral surroundings and its stunning view of the Caucasus mountains.

Rooms Kazbegi
KazbegiOnce a spa for the Soviet party elite, this lovingly restored, charmingly geometric hotel is perched high in the Caucasus mountains. Of course, there are floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, ensuring that wherever you are—nestled in bed, curled up in a hand-crafted wicker chair on the sweeping terrace, swimming in the reflecting pool—the snow-capped peaks are so close it seems you can just about touch them.
