Best of Lima, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco
You’re halfway through an eight-course meal in the Sacred Valley—and it hits you. Just hours ago you were foraging for these ingredients alongside a master chef. Each exquisite course, you now realize, represents an ecosystem of elevation and centuries of indigenous tradition. Paired together, this meal is a delicious lesson in simplicity and harmony, and of connecting with layers of flavor and history here in Peru. Tomorrow, you’ll walk through the Sun Gate and witness the majesty of Machu Picchu; just a few days later, you’ll learn the modern craft of mixology in one of Cusco’s most storied bars. This is the true Peru few outsiders experience, a profound gastronomic immersion that connects your palette and your soul.
Joining us on this incredible journey is Traci Des Jardins and Enrique Sanchez, two of the Bay Area’s finest when it comes to food and drink. Traci is a two-time James Beard Award-winning chef whose Latin roots and California-farm upbringing instilled a lifelong devotion to sustainability and locally sourced produce. Enrique is a Peruvian native who landed in San Francisco to create a new life—one that’s made him one of the top bartenders in the country. Together, Traci and Enrique share a deep respect for one another as friends and collaborators. We are honored to experience Peru with them.
If you want to explore the heights of the Andes and experience true local culture and cuisine, this trip is for you. We’ll explore artsy Lima, taste and cook traditional Peruvian cuisine, hike the Inca Trail and experience sunrise over Machu Picchu. This is an adventure of food and culture with Traci and Enrique celebrating a land where the Inca’s age-old traditions still flourish in the 21st century.
The artsy capital of Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu, indigenous street food and hip local barrios
Your sense with Andes hikes, in Sacred Valley villages, up into the sheer audaciousness of Machu Picchu
Rich Peruvian flavors, colorful food markets and farm-to-table ingredients
Ancient Incan culture, local weavers and chefs, Peru's ancient cultures and traditions
Traci Des Jardins is a two-time James Beard Award-winning chef with deep Latin roots, and she can forage and hunt like nobody’s business. Enrique Sanchez is a Peruvian native, master mixologist and longtime collaborator with Traci. We’re honored to go deep in Peru with a duo who understands that travel is the essence of life—and is best served with a pisco sour in hand.
Traci Des Jardins
Chef & Restaurateur
Traci Des Jardins is an industry pioneer and award winner who relishes a good challenge (competing on Top Chef and Iron Chef America, among others). We're honored to go deep in Peru with a chef and culinary badass like Traci.
Enrique can invent the perfect scratch-cocktail in seconds, or remix old classics with an original twist. Enrique arrived in the United States from Peru in his early 20s. With his wild imagination and warm personality, he's become one of San Francisco's top bartenders and a frequent collaborator with Traci.
A meticulously preserved mansion from the 1920s—all columns and finials and grandeur—this 22-room retreat is on a quiet Lima street and gives you a real sense of place. Nowhere more so than the rooftop bar. Order up a round of pisco sours at sunset, then take in the views of the beautiful bohemian sprawl that is Lima’s Barranco neighborhood.
Tucked away in the countryside between Cusco and Machu Picchu, this five-star hacienda-style getaway is the perfect waypost for our journey. Serenity abounds throughout the 100-acre property’s open spaces, 10-acre “earth-to-table” plantation where you can pick your own produce, local and traditional style and modern comforts. This is Sacred Valley living.
Machu Picchu PuebloAguas Calientes
Enter this luxurious Aguas Calientes hotel by bridge, which makes it feels like stepping into a different world. The hacienda-style hotel is set in lush rainforest vegetation, with brightly colored birds hovering over pools and through the winding nature trails you can explore. After a hard day’s walk, the spa and eucalyptus-infused steam hut will restore all your powers.
You’ll be happy setting up at this one-time, colonial-era Cusco market turned boutique B&B. The 32 traditional rooms with beam ceilings boast a chic makeover, and overlook the hotel's central terrace. Filled with artesanías (handicrafts) and comfy lounges around pit fires, it’s the perfect place to stay warm, with a drink or two, on those chilly nights.

Do I need Travel Insurance?
We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance. Travel insurance allows you to seek reimbursement for your trip costs; if your trip plans change for unforeseeable reasons, or if you need to get medical help, emergency transport, and for theft, loss or damage of items while traveling. For best coverage, always insure the full trip cost within two weeks of your initial trip deposit and note that most ‘Cancel For Any Reason’ policies must be purchased on the date of your initial deposit.
What is the cancellation policy?
You may cancel on or before December 27, 2022 and receive a full refund minus a $750 per-person service fee (due to Inca Trail Permits being made at time of booking, an additional $250 fee is applied to our standard $500 cancelation fee). If you cancel on or after December 28, 2022 there is a 50% cancellation fee. On or after February 25, 2023 there is a 100% cancellation fee. We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance as we are not able to make exceptions to this policy in cases of family/medical emergency or cases of the trip being canceled (see our Terms and Conditions for full details).
