A Legacy of Empowerment: The Story of Rose Previte & Go There Wines

International Women’s Day

At Modern Adventure, we celebrate women who lead, create, and inspire all year long. This International Women’s Day, we’re honored to highlight someone who joins us in supporting women’s stories every single day. For Rose Previte, her career mission is to open doors, amplify voices, and create spaces where all women feel seen.

The Story of Rose Previte & Go There Wines

Food is more than sustenance—it is history, culture, and a shared experience that brings people together. Born to a Lebanese mother and Sicilian father, Rose expressed herself through food from an early age. Inspired by her travels, she opened her first restaurant, Compass Rose, in 2014, followed by Maydan in 2017 and Kirby Club in 2022, but that’s just the beginning of her impact.

She believes food is a storyteller where every dish carries history and culture, bridging gaps between people and places. In her restaurants, she prioritizes no barriers in dining through communal seating, interactive menus, and shared experiences. Above all, she champions diverse chefs, winemakers, and artisans, using her platforms to create spaces where everyone belongs.

“The purpose behind all of my concepts is to connect, open doors for newness, and empower others to come to the table. I started with restaurants, but that’s just the beginning.”

– Rose Previte

A Philosophy of Hospitality & Inclusion

A visionary entrepreneur, Rose built Michelin-starred restaurants before co-founding the social impact wine company, Go There Wines. With this endeavor, she spotlights winemakers rewriting industry norms—particularly women, people of color, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Driven by her passion for wine, this new social enterprise company was created to disrupt the global wine industry. Its goal is to share the stories of trailblazing wines made by women and other underrepresented winemakers around the world who are pushing boundaries and challenging conventions.

Go There Wines believes that being a great winemaker shouldn’t be about your gender, your skin color, who you love, or where you live but rather about making great wine and their winemakers are pushing these boundaries. They highlight wine from underrepresented makers around the world including a Black woman rewriting history in South Africa’s most famous wine region, winemaking sisters in Georgia, a wife-wife duo creating wines among the “most coveted” in California, a winemaker defying gender stereotypes in Lebanon, and more. In turn, Go There Wines has developed a new social impact and profit-sharing model that better invests in these winemakers, their farmers, and the broader community.  Not only do their winemakers name their prices but 25% of profits go straight to them—allowing them to further invest in their businesses, their communities, and themselves.

By amplifying diverse voices and sharing their stories, she’s redefining what it means to make, sell, and enjoy wine with purpose. Here are some of their stories:

Baia and Gvantsa Abuldze

Baia and Gvantsa Abuldze are winemakers and sisters making wine in Imereri, Georgia—a place where men have been making wine for 8,000 years.  While they celebrate this rich winemaking history, they are also charting a new path for women in wine.

Nondumiso Pikashe

Nondumiso Pikashe is a Black woman and winemaker running an indigenous brand based outside of Cape Town, South Africa. She is recognized as one of the women rewriting history in South Africa’s most famous wine region.

Tara Gomez and Mireia Taribó

Tara Gomez and Mireia Taribó are a wife-wife duo who fell in love harvesting grapes and making natural wines that respect the earth. Tara Gomez is the first recognized Native American winemaker in the United States and their wines are considered some of the “most coveted” in California.

Maria Frangieh

Maria Frangieh is a winemaker defying gender stereotypes in Bekka Valley, Lebanon. As one of a small but growing number of women winemakers in Lebanon, Maria and her mentors are pioneering natural winemaking in the Fertile Crescent.
