Sweden and Finland with Heath Ceramics
This is nature and craft in perfect contrast—the serenity of snow-covered forests, the cool ripple of the Baltic beneath a ferry’s hull, and the awe-inspiring influence of modern design. In Stockholm, you found inspiration in the minimalist beauty of Nordic design, tracing the legacy of functional elegance from vibrant studios to world-class architecture. Now, in Finland, you’re standing in Alvar Aalto’s home, one of the world’s most renowned architects, where sunlight spills across wooden floors and feels like an ode to the natural world. Last night, the tang of cured fish mingled with the earthy richness of rye at a waterfront dinner. Tomorrow, under the vast northern sky, you’ll trace the horizon of Lapland, where silence itself feels like an element of design. This is a journey that redefines what it means to create, explore, and connect.
Your companions on this ten-day journey are the creative forces behind Heath Ceramics. The iconic San Francisco pottery house is famed for making beautiful things slowly, producing some of the world’s most highly regarded ceramic home goods. On all of our departures, we’ll explore the design, culture, and craft that make Sweden and Finland a deep and ongoing source of inspiration for them, as they share their experiences and relationships in the places we visit.
Trip Highlights
- Guided visit to the Artipelag museum
- Canal cruise through Stockholm

- Private Dinner at Ilse Crawford’s Ett Hem
