The flavors linger like an Italian aria. You’ve just tasted a perfectly crafted glass of Barolo in its birthplace. As you look out over an expanse of centuries-old vineyards, the sun dips behind the Alps and streams a symphony of color over the valley — and it suddenly hits you. The simple ingredients, the methodical preparation, the exact harmony — it’s one long love letter to Italy, a place rooted in the philosophy of Slow Food that feels like nowhere else in Europe. You’ll soon be eating freshly foraged truffles, and dessert topped with hazelnuts harvested from just down the road. You take another sip and whisper salute to slowing down, to the stories that emerge with every course, to every small moment of this unforgettable experience.
With you is Top Chef duo, Bryan and Michael Voltaggio, the Maryland-born brothers known for showcasing their friendly sibling rivalry on and off screen. While Michael may have won the coveted Top Chef title (Bryan placed second), both hold their own scrolls of accomplishments running kitchens across the United States. Bryan stacks up multiple “Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic” nods from the James Beard Foundation; meanwhile, Michael received a Michelin star while Chef de Cuisine at both Healdsburg’s Dry Creek Kitchen and, later, at The Dining Room in Pasadena. This trip puts the competition aside as an opportunity for Bryan and Michael to explore their ancestry in this region for the first time as a family — a deeply personal window into both brotherhood and craft.
If your idea of the perfect adventure is tinged with local wines, ancient history, and plenty of truffles, then this is the trip for you. Join us as we celebrate the artisans, chefs, and visionaries of Italy’s cuisine culture.

3 Reasons to Travel with Bryan & Michael
Together the Voltaggio brothers are responsible for an impressive combined body of work, including the (very) short list of ink., VOLT, Thatcher & Rye, the Voltaggio Brothers Steak House and the newly opened Vulcania on Mammoth Mountain. However, ask these Food Network stars about their culinary beginnings as teens, and you quickly learn that these two brothers from Frederick, Maryland, are as talented as they are down-to-earth.

Finding their Roots
The Voltaggios want to let you in on the story of where their family originated with a visit (maybe you saw this coming?) to Voltaggio, in Italy's Piedmont region It’s an intimate look into their world as they experience Italy for the first time together with us.
Brotherly Love
While they love a good battle of the brothers, Bryan and Michael look out for each other — starting in their teens at a Holiday Inn. Bryan was the sous chef while Michael bussed tables. One day Bryan told Michael to show up in a chef's uniform... the rest, they say, is history.
Tempo Allegro
From working in Michelin-star kitchens to penning their own cookbook to extending their impressive roster of restaurants, Bryan and Michael are always on the move. Even as they gear up to join us in Italy, they are busy tweaking the menu at their new Italian-American spot, Vulcania, and opening Retro, a 1980s and ‘90s inspired restaurant inside Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay.

Where We Sleep

From sleek urban sanctuaries to dreamy vine-covered retreats, our accommodations are packed with authentic Italian character and style.
Albergo dell’Agenzia
PollenzoStorybook windows look out onto vine-covered hills and imposing castles — a landscape so dreamy even UNESCO has recognized it as a World Heritage Site. This idyllic luxurious retreat sits a few kilometers from Alba and Bra, between the Langhe and Roero hills, and virtually next door to the acclaimed University of Gastronomic Sciences. It's the perfect home base for our time in Piedmont.

Villa Sparina
GaviSet near lush woods and the sprawling vineyards of Monterotondo, our boutique villa hotel is the perfect nature-meets-luxury experience, set in a beautifully restored 18th-century farmhouse manor with all the modern comforts. It's also a working vineyard, producing acclaimed Gavi and Barbera wines stored on the grounds in historic cellars you can visit in between visits to the spa or simply wandering the expansive grounds.

Hotel Rua Frati
ModenaThe grandeur of the Italian Renaissance meets modern-day Modenese hospitality in this elegant urban sanctuary. Impeccably restored with buttery leather furnishings and luxury wellness amenities (think Turkish spa and Finnish sauna), the 16th-century estate still brims with authentic character. You’ll find historic frescoes patterning spacious rooms, while the timeless flavors of Modenese cuisine shine in the stately Locanda restaurant.

25H
FlorenceLocated off a tranquil cobbled street in Florence’s historic center, this sleek urban hideaway takes its design notes from famed Florentine architect Dante Alighieri. Curated allusions to the virtues and vices of the Divine Comedy embellish the hotel’s Negroni bar and restaurant, while ethereal hues and pops of vibrant red abound in its stylish rooms. Equipped with webs of scenic trails leading to the surrounding countryside, 25H is the ultimate Tuscan getaway.
