Piedmont is known for its stunning scenery, access to the nearby Alps and rich wine heritage. But it’s truly appreciated by those who savor the slow life. Preserving the local ecosystem, its flavor and traditions, and keeping memories and traditions alive. Your Private Experience

Who It’s For

From a wine-and-dine getaway to a group of savvy food aficionados, our Piedmont retreat offers authentic immersion and the region's best flavors.

When to Travel

Fall is high tourist season, coinciding with vineyard harvests and the Alba White Truffle Fair in October and November. May thru June is another magical time of year.

Make It Yours

More or less wine, a masterclass in truffles and truffle hunting, or perhaps a chef-led exploration of regional delicacies. Or add time in Campania, Tuscany, Rome. The choice is yours.

Day by Day

Whether you want to explore deeper in Piedmont—or explore farther afield in Rome, Tuscany, Amalfi Coast, Sicily, and beyond—we’ll help craft your ideal MO/AD Retreat.

Days 1 - 2

From your base in Turin, in the heart of Piedmont, start with a food-forward tour of the city and its Baroque buildings, stone streets and frosted-Alps vistas. Then head outside Turin to explore Piedmont’s deep-rooted coffee culture with a cupping and tasting, plus an afternoon to explore the city: visit Turin’s Egyptian Museum, relish city views and have a world-class picnic paired with local wines.

  • Turin food & market tour
  • Private tour of city highlights
  • Artisanal coffee cupping

Day 3

Canelli is the birthplace of Italian sparkling wine, with vineyards stretching in all directions across the gently rolling land. It’s also full of artisanal producers that you’ll meet, starting by visiting a cheesemaker famous for the traditional, rindless sheep cheese Tuma di Langa. Next, meet a world-famous chocolatier and sample some of Europe’s most exquisite chocolates, and cap the day at Contratto, a vineyard and winery best known for its sparkling varietals and prominent fanbase, including the Italian royal family.

  • Travel to Canelli
  • Cheesemaker & chocolatier visits
  • Contratto winery tour and tasting

Day 4

After a leisurely breakfast, you’ll head to Ettore Germano, a family-owned spot steeped in four generations of winemaking knowledge and a true leader in small scale, handcrafted ‘slow wine.’ Next stop is Podere Luigi Einaudi, founded by the second president of Italy; his legacy continues in this bucolic family winery. And because a day of wine deserves a hearty pairing, you’ll finish the day with at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, learning about Slow Food history over an unforgettable multi-course dinner.

  • Ettore Germano winery tasting
  • Podere Luigi Einaudi winery tasting
  • Dinner at University of Gastronomic Sciences

Day 5

The hunt is on for truffles! Led by a judge from the local Truffle Fair, you’ll retreat to the forest with specially trained dogs for a guided experience on locating, identifying and cooking up these flavorful fungi, the centerpiece of your lunch today.

  • Guided truffle hunt
  • Truffle cooking and lunch

Day 6

Yesterday was your truffle primer—this is the main event. The Internazionale Tartufo Bianco (White Truffle Fair), for 90 years held each October and November in nearby Alba, is a gathering of people from around the world who appreciate flavorful food sourced ethically and locally. A guide will wind you through the fair, explaining the many local flavors on display.

  • Truffle Fair & expert-led tour
  • Private dinner in Asti
